TL;DR: AI generates average, and average doesn’t rank.

When it comes to content, AI is a “C” student.

It reads the average, weighs the average, and vomits out the average.

Don’t get me wrong. That’s pretty cool. It’s a nerdtastic achievement.

But AI tools (ChatGPT, Gemini, and friends) **don’t cite average content.** Search engines **don’t rank average content.**

_I know someone’s going to trot out counterexamples. Whatever. There’s always an exception. Check out [Lily Ray’s posts](https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7427028823344386048/) to see how that works out._

If you’re pooping out bland, average, AI-generated slop and expecting a high ranking on the Googles, you’re in for a rough ride.

If you **must** use AI, be a ruthless editor. Grind the hell out of the generated content, and make sure you’ve got something new, something better, or at least something entertaining.

End of rant.
